Sea Freight

WM International has over 30 years of experience in shipping cargo by sea worldwide. We work with the industry leaders in maritime transportation and have established great working relationships with them. Over the years we have developed our network of agents covering Asia, Europe, Australia, Africa and South and North America.

We handle for you all administrative work including import and export documentation, Customs clearance, and arrange road transport from ports directly to your destination.

Our friendly team is happy to support and guide you to find the most cost effective and convenient solution to your business. Your load is being monitored 24/7 and we keep you informed regarding actual time and date of arrival.

Our services:

  • FCL, Full Container Load – you purchase one or more full containers to send on a vessel.
  • LCL, Less than Container Load – your products share a container with other importers/exporters. Once they reach their destination, the container’s contents are divided.
  • RORO, Roll On Roll Off – your products do not leave the vehicle they are in to go onto the cargo ship. The vehicle simply drives onto the ship, and then drives off the other end.
  • Dry bulk shipping – used for some specific items, which are deposited into the hold of the ship instead of travelling in a container.

FAQ

Sea Freight is ideal for shipments where cost efficiency is critical. It is the cheapest option for long distances of heavy and large quantities of goods, and both FCL (Full Container Load) and LCL (Less Than Container Load) are options. However, Sea Freight would not be suitable if you have tight deadlines and need a quick delivery.

As a quick checklist for what documents are required for Sea Freight transport, included documents and their purpose are;

  • The primary shipping document certifying to the receipt and transportation of goods, the Bill of Lading (B/L).
  • A Commercial Invoice provides information on the product’s value, the seller and buyer, and the Incoterms.
  • Outlining the dimensions, weights, and contents of the package is a Packing List.
  • The Certificate of Origin indicates the place of manufacture.
  • Required for both import and export clearance is a Customs Declaration.
  • An Insurance Certificate is evidence of cargo insurance, only required if relevant.
  • Hazardous cargo requires a Dangerous Goods Declaration.

Here at WM International, as your freight forwarder, we would make the entire transportation process of your business’ goods simple for you. We can organise the carrier bookings, container selection, export and import documentation, port handling, customs clearance and inland haulage – all taking the stress off you and your team.
